Oscar’s story

A passion for learning—and for making it clearer.

Oscar’s academic journey began at the University of Hull, where he graduated with First-Class Honours in Modern History. He also received an award for Civic and Social Responsibility after designing engaging learning activities for young children at the city archives.

He then achieved a Distinction in his MA in Modern History at the University of Leeds. This led to a fully funded PhD through the university’s prestigious 110th Anniversary Scholarship.

While teaching undergraduates during his doctoral studies, Oscar discovered how rewarding it was to help students understand complex material and enjoy the learning process. His subsequent career has included lecturing at the London School of Economics, conducting prize-winning research at the University of London and working as a Learning Designer in Higher Education.

Teaching philosophy

Clear, engaging and genuinely rewarding.

Oscar brings this background into every tutoring relationship. Students receive more than explanations of content: they develop practical ways to plan, write, revise and approach exams with greater confidence.

His sessions use effective, inclusive teaching practices and are tailored to the individual. Whether a GCSE student feels nervous about an approaching exam or an A-level student is aiming for a top university, the purpose is the same—to make progress feel possible and learning worth the effort.
